It has begun & it is sinking in. We are getting old!
Here are my reasons:
*Kenny will be 30 years old in a Month.
*We have a 2nd grader.
*It absolutely kills me to stay up past 9:30 pm.
*We are starting to embarrass our children-
*Yesterday at the Mall, Will & Whitney were my Judges in the dressing room & gave me a thumbs up or down on everything I tried on. I wanted to buy a "thumbs down" item & Whitney wouldn't let me. She said, "Mom, that one is NOT Good! Don't get it!"
*After volunteering in Kenadee's class this week she came home & told me about this conversation she had with a boy in her class:
Boy: Your mom wears too much Make-up.
Kenadee: She does?
Boy: Yeah, when she came in I could smell her lip gloss & powder.
Kenadee: Oh. Maybe it was her perfume. Sometimes she wears a lot of that.
(Really, I think it was my lotion he was smelling. I had no perfume on that day. - or - Maybe I do wear too much makeup, so much in fact that it smells!)
*Kenny told Kenadee he was going to come & eat lunch with her today at school & that she should decide what shirt he should wear.
He started to put on his "Nerd/Booger" t-shirt & thought that it would be funny. She said, " You can wear that one OR this one." & pulled out a nice respectable button up.
Surprisingly he wore the button up.
All these things make me feel like we are getting older. Before we know it we will be in our mid-thirties (ugh) & our kids will be in that ugly awkward stage where they insist on doing their own hair.
Oh if we could just freeze time!

those make me laugh! I hate getting older, too. funny kids to remind us how old we are! I still feel 21! Check my blog comments for my response to "the" question!
I'm still laughing.
How about the fact that I am going to have to start dying my hair here soon...not because I want to but because I will HAVE to?!
I'm still older than both of you and I'm young...so i'm throwing out your request to be old. Make up that smells however...thats a good one...may want to check the brand! I'm still lauging at that one:) See you soon.
That's funny, Cody and I were talking about how we feel old the other day...we saw some kids that were freshmen in college and they looked like they were freshmen in highschool...
I know what you mean. I told Owen I was going to come to his school to help out and he said :"Mom, my teacher doesn't need your help." He totally rolled his eyes when he said it. I don't get it. I am way cooler than my parents!! Right?
I've never known a 1st grader boy to know about lip gloss and powder! Next time, you should bring some of your smelly lotion and offer it to that little boy...or better yet, give some to her teacher! Then he can smell it all year!
I'm just waiting for the day to come that my boys start to get a little embarassed of their parents!
I know that I am getting older, because Doctors and teachers now seem so young to me.
I'll be 31 in 4 1/2 months - no longer the spunky 30 but IN MY 30's --- ahhh now that sounds super old!
Abby you've got to stop wearing that smelly makeup! j.k. Little boys are so funny. I turned thirty last year and hated it. So I know how you feel. At least we are all getting old together.
I am feeling the same way! I am hanging on to my 20's for dear life. 29 is only a couple weeks away and I would prefer it not to come. And I am pulling out grey hair right and left. But you look great!!! You get better with age ;-)
Tell me about being old...I am now 29! I did not think that was even possible. I am not that old. I still feel like I am 17 and we are hanging out in high school. But your kids are older than mine so you have to feel older than me (ha ha)!
I really enjoy reading your blog Abby, I have to say it's one of my favorites. This was entertaining but stop it with the Old remarks! You can get old but Im not getting old. Isnt it just an attitude anyways? :)
